Three men behind bars for drug possession in Lowndes Co.

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The Lowndes County Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at 600 Plymouth Road in Columbus.

This operation led to the seizure of about 80 grams of methamphetamine.

Agents received information from different sources, including the P3 tip line, stating that there was some type of drug activity at or near the home.

After further investigation, law enforcement had probable cause for the search warrant and arrested 65-year-old David Easter.

Easter was charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance, and his bond was set at $50,000.

On Thursday, May 29, the Lowndes County Narcotics Unit served another search warrant at 1216 Waterworks Road in Columbus.

This search resulted in the seizure of a felony amount of methamphetamine, marijuana, and prescription medications.

Agents had been informed of drug distribution activities at this location from several sources.

After further investigation, law enforcement had probable cause for a search warrant and arrested 52-year-old Jason Hines.

Hines is being charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to distribute, and his bond has not been set yet.

On Friday, May 30, the Lowndes County Narcotics Unit arrested 56-year-old Carey Chappell.

Agents had been investigating drug trafficking activities at multiple locations on the south side of Columbus.

This investigation led them to conduct a traffic stop at the intersection of 15th St. S and Pickensville Road, and the traffic stop ended with a seizure of methamphetamine, and the arrest of Chappell.

He was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to distribute.

The Lowndes County Justice Court denied bond for Chappell due to him facing similar charges with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
