Triple-Digit Heat Index Today

COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) — A heat advisory is in effect across our area today for triple-digit heat index values in the afternoon — and that heat is not going anywhere anytime soon.

WEDNESDAY: While the actual high temperature will get to around 96°, it will feel about ten degrees warmer than that, with the heat index topping out at 107°. Conditions will be mostly sunny, and that sunshine will be pretty strong, with a maximum UV index of 10. The chance for an isolated pop-up shower in the afternoon is very low, but cannot be entirely ruled out.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: The overnight low temperature will be around 76°, but it will still feel humid outside with some lingering moisture. Skies will be partly cloudy.

THURSDAY: It will be even warmer tomorrow than today, with an actual high of about 98° and an expected peak heat index of 110°. Mostly sunny skies are in store, so it will truly be blisteringly hot out tomorrow. Winds will be out of the southwest.
