Kids Learn About Nocturnal Creatures

TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – Kicking off the start of summer, Tupelo area kids have the opportunity to explore various day camps and continue learning in a new way.

“Things That Go Bump In The Night”is one of the many camps offered at Lawndale Elementary. Participants dissected owl pellets, learned about spiders and other nocturnal creatures.

Organizers say the kids can learn all about nature and interesting facts they don’t normally learn about in the classroom.

“This week has been devoted to animals that go bump in the night. So we’ve concentrated on the four B’s.The beast, the birds, the bugs and the bats. And usually these animals are ones that kids dont know a lot about and we wanted to learn about them and their importance to our society,” said Teacher Sherry Willis.

Summer opportunity camps will countinue through the month of June. For more information go to www.tupeloschools.com
