LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The equipment formerly owned by the biofuel company KiOR has been sold. That’s one step closer to clearing the site on the “Island” in Columbus.

The Golden Triangle LINK confirmed Monday that Georgia Renewable Power, LLC is buying the equipment, with plans to move the wood processing elements.

Other equipment will be resold and the land should be clear by mid spring.

KiOR and the state of Mississippi have been going round and round in court because the company owed millions in taxes.

But this deal will allow the city, Lowndes County and the school districts to receive the money from the back taxes.
