COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — A Columbus business selects the Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop G as their partner in helping to distribute hundreds of Lucky & Chance Bears to children just in time for the holidays.

Customers of the Leigh Mall PetSmart made $5 donations towards the cuddly stuffed animals.

Ten percent of the proceeds are benefiting local adoption agencies. Troopers will get a chance to give out the bears to children while on patrol or during educational visits to schools.

“Mississippi State Highway Patrol does so much for us to help keep us safe. And so it just benefits us and them as well,” said Nancy Pruitt/PetSmart Store Manager.

“You know where children are scared or frightened or sad or whatever. A trooper will be able to go to the back of his vehicle and pull out one of these stuffed animals and give it to the children to kind of brighten their day,” said MSG Chris Turnipseed/MHP Troop G.

Over 500 stuffed bears were donated to MHP Troop G.
