[bitsontherun iZCzOWNf]LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – West Lowndes High School students gave back to the community Friday (11-16).

After two weeks of hard work collecting, students presented boxes of men’s, women’s and children’s clothing to local organizations Friday morning. The Last House on the Block sober living environment, and Safe Haven Women’s Shelter, were both thankful to receive the clothes. Students say the school wanted to do something to help those less fortunate as the holiday season begins.

“I come from a wonderful home with two parents that really push us hard and make sure we are successful in life. But I’m noticing as I grow up and mature, a lot of kids do not have that kind of home, and I feel good knowing I can help somebody,” said West Lowndes senior and student body president Trenyla Brewer.

While at the high school, both the Last House on the Block and Safe Haven also took time to speak with students about continuing to make positive choices.
