WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – The West Point Rotary Club members met for lunch at First United Methodist Church in West Point today (Thursday) and mulled over public education.

Kris Hollis, Director of Testing and Curriculum for the West Point Schools District gave rotarians a snapshot of various testing that are a must for elementary and high school students, especially students expecting to graduate. Hollis went over the new standards and requirements that are even more rigid than before.

“There is mounting pressure on students to perform because as specially at the high school level. Students are held accountable for passing these tests in order to graduate, even if they meet state and local graduation requirements,” said Kris Hollis, WPSD Director of Testing & Curriculum.

The school district provided West Point Rotary members with their personal copy of the 2014-2015 Statewide testing assessments.
