COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – It starts with a small block of wood and 4 plastic wheels.

Then it’s up to boy and his dad to create something special.

The Pinewood Derby has been fixture in scouting for generations.

Wheels were turning Tuesday (3-19) night at the Boy Scout Hut in Columbus.
Scores of youngsters turned their homemade cars loose for a trip down a wooden ramp.

Bragging rights and trophies were on the on the line.

The winners were Carter Bumgarner for the Tiger Cubs, Paxton Garrard for the Wolf Cubs, Ayden Mitchell for the Bear Cubs, Tyler Looney for Weebelos.
