TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WCBI) — It turned out to be a record-breaking evening for the Pickens County Tornadoes.

For the first time in school history, Pickens County High School can boast they are the State Champions in Class 1A high school football.

The Tornadoes were dominant from start to finish as they defeated previously unbeaten Maplesville, 38-18 on Thursday night at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The win over the Red Devils gives Pickens County the 1A State Championship and a 15-0 overall record on the season.

Junior running back Jermarcus Brown ran for a Super 6 record 329 yards on 26 carries to go along with 3 touchdowns. Starting quarterback Devonte Simon was also over 100 yards on the ground for the Tornadoes.
