JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – The United States Department of Justice approves new voting lines for the Mississippi House and Senate.
Federal officials had 60 days to sign off on the redistricting, and they took every last one of them.
After careful consideration, they determined the new maps are fair to minorities.
Mississippi has to have Justice Department approval, because of its history of discrimination.
Districts are updated every 10 years to reflect changes in population.
