83 Mississippi bridges slated for immediate close

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – 83 bridges in Mississippi will be closing.

Governor Phil Bryant signed today, a state of emergency, ordering MDOT to close bridges deemed unsafe for travel.

Bridges set for immediate closure affects several counties including Itawamba County.

We’ve reached out to the county to find out what bridges it includes.

The bridges in question are in the following counties: Amite, Carroll, Clarke, Greene, Hinds, Humphreys, Itawamba, Jasper, Jones, Lauderdale, Leake, Lincoln, Newton, Pike, Smith and Wayne.

The bridges will remain closed until they are in compliance with federal and state laws, regulations and standards.
