Women earn 49 cents for every $1 men earn, new report says

(CBS) – The wage gap separating men and women is much wider than previously thought, according to a new report.

The Institute for Women’s Policy Research claims women earned $0.49 for each dollar that a man was paid over a 15-year span.

That’s a big difference from census data that show women make $0.80 for each dollar a man earns. CBS News business analyst Jill Schlesinger joins “CBS This Morning” to discuss the gender pay gap.
