Triple-Digit Temperatures In Sight
COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) — As southwesterly flow ramps up, daytime high temps are continuing to increase through the 90s, and possibly above 100° by the weekend.
TUESDAY: Today’s high temperature will be around 93°, but could be a couple of degrees warmer locally in some areas. However, all of us will be feeling these elevated heat indices, up to about 106°. Skies will be mostly sunny in the morning, with calm winds, but in the afternoon and early evening, there is a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms moving across our area. Winds will get up to about 5 mph out of the southwest.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Skies will clear out in the evening, making for mostly clear conditions overnight, with south-southwesterly winds around 5 mph. The overnight low will be 76°, but it will still be pretty humid overnight.
WEDNESDAY: Temperatures will continue to rise tomorrow, with a forecast high of 96° and a peak heat index of 107°. A slight chance of afternoon showers will be sticking around, but skies will otherwise be mostly sunny. It will be a bit breezy at times, with sustained winds of 5-10 mph out of the west-southwest.
REST OF THE WEEK: The persistent southwesterly flow will keep bringing those temperatures up. By the weekend, highs are likely to be above 100°, with minimal relief at night as lows will be in the high 70s.
