An area teacher earns multi-state recognition for her classroom expreience

Well, an area teacher is being recognized for her contributions in the classroom and to the lives of her students. And she’s multi she has multi-state recognition for her work as well. Heather Ford, a kindergarten teacher at Annunciation Catholic School, is taking home double honors this year. She was selected as the Teacher of the Year by the Columbus Kiwanis Club and she is also taking that honor at the organization’s district level as the Lummis Chin District Teacher of the Year.

Ford has years of experience in the classroom, but she says it really comes down to building relationships with students, knowing their interests and abilities and meeting them where they are because a child can’t learn until a child’s ready to learn the skill that you’re presenting. And so if you’ve got a child, one child that knows their ABCs and you’ve got a child that doesn’t even know what a letter or number is, you can’t you know, they’re on to two different playing fields.
