“This is an exciting day for Owls Athletics as we welcome Tim Gould as the university’s first men’s soccer coach.  Tim’s wealth of knowledge and experience as a head coach at the NCAA Division III level will be a tremendous asset not only to the soccer program, but to the athletic department as well,” said Jason Trufant, director of athletics.
Gould has coached at the high school level around the Midwest and has served as an NCAA Division III head coach for three seasons.  As a high school coach, Gould held a 203-97-11 record while winning three South Central Conference Championships, four Illinois High School Association Regional Championships and was named Alton Telegraph Coach of the year two times.
In 2013, Gould joined the staff at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Ill.  As head women’s soccer coach, Gould had multiple players named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, as well as all-SLIAC and academic all-SLIAC performers.
“I am grateful to Dr. Borsig, Jason Trufant and The W for granting me the opportunity to start the men’s soccer program.  Constructing our program will be an exciting and rewarding experience for the entire campus community.  I look forward to bringing soccer to The W and helping grow the game in Columbus,” said Gould.
Throughout his career, Gould has earned additional coaching certificates. This past summer he attended the CBC Dutch Touch Coaching Symposium along with the What Drives Winning and Way of Champions conferences. He also holds an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, USSF Youth License, NSCAA National Diploma and an NSCAA Soccer Management and Development certification.
Gould was a four-year starter on defense at Blackburn College. During his playing career, the Beavers finished top four in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference three times.
Gould graduated with a bachelor’s of arts in English with secondary certification in 2006 from Blackburn College. In 2015, he received his master’s in education from the University of Missouri.
Gould arrives on campus Monday, Nov. 14.
