Red Bay Teacher Back In Classroom
RED BAY, Ala. (AP) – An Alabama fifth-grade teacher arrested last month for public drunkenness after a Red Bay City Council meeting has returned to the classroom following a 10-day suspension without pay.
Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/2fxyTwX) Red Bay High School teacher Shanna Ozbirn is scheduled to appear in the city’s municipal court Friday for a hearing on two violations: public intoxication and possession of prohibited liquor.
Red Bay police arrested Ozbirn after the Oct. 17 council meeting. Police said at the time that Ozbirn appeared to be under the influence during the meeting and was arrested before she could leave once the meeting ended.
Franklin County Schools Superintendent Gary Williams said Ozbirn completed a rehab that lasted about two weeks before she returned to the classroom Nov. 17.
