Education Funding Bill Killed
JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – A new public education funding formula appears to be dead this legislative session.
The state Senate killed the bill on a procedural motion this afternoon.
Amory State Senator Hob Bryan introduced the motion.
He says the new proposal is based on faulty data and hasn’t been thoroughly considered.
Some Republicans voted with Democrats to help defeat the bill, which would have replaced the Mississippi Adequate Education Program with a new formula.
Supporters claim the current formula doesn’t equally distribute its money.
