Alabama unemployment numbers remain low, local levels creep up
Alabama’s latest unemployment numbers remained at historic lows but local levels crept up.
The January numbers held steady at 2.7%, which is the same as it was in December.
Lamar County’s unemployment is at 3.3%. That’s an increase from the month before.
Pickens County is sitting at 3.6%, which was also an increase.
Wage and salary employment saw gains over the past year.
Building construction and motor vehicle manufacturing employment saw the biggest gains.
