Chickasaw County Preps Their Crisis Situation Plan

CHICKASAW COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Emergency responders from across Chickasaw County gathered in Houston today to actively prepare for a crisis situation.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency presented the group with a tabletop active shooter exercise.

The presentation included several possible scenarios; school, hospital, and nursing home staff could face and lifesaving plans and procedures to be implemented in an emergency.

Trace Regional Hospital CEO Gary Staten says this is information he hopes they’ll never have to use, but is thankful to have.

“It’s all about understanding. In a crisis we all need as much understanding and practice it enough to know that we would do it appropriately. Most importantly it’s about the information, who to call, when to call. Just the specific information,” says Staten.

The Chickasaw County Emergency Management Agency holds several crisis drills throughout the year.
