Columbus resident gives back to community with bag giveaway

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A Columbus resident is making sure to give back to her community before the Christmas Holiday.

Eran Hackman’s friends and family hosted their inaugural

Over 200 brown bags were distributed to people in the Sim Scott community.

The items were non-perishable food items, such as mac & cheese, ravioli, corn, and other dry foods.

45 volunteers helped out with the giveaway.

Eran Hackman said she wants to make sure her community feels loved during the holiday season.

“To give back makes me feel good because many times people leave here and they forget about their community,” Hackman said. “I am thankful for Mayor Stephen Jones, who pushes me to do things as such, and Councilman Jefferson of this community here at Sim Scott, who came, supported, and gave back. I am appreciative of people like that who believe in people in my generation; it is a blessing. It is important to have these kinds of events so people can know they are loved. It so many people who came that didn’t know about it, and they were just happy to have something. When all my people said Merry Christmas, they felt loved and felt the presence of being loved.”

Hackman said they will host a Christmas bag giveaway annually.
