Hunting And Fishing License Costs Could Rise

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – The cost of Mississippi residents’ hunting and fishing licenses could increase for the first time in a generation to help pay for more state game wardens.

The Senate on Wednesday passed House Bill 1151 (http://bit.ly/25x6uIm ). The proposal returns to the House for more work.

It says the cost of a combination fishing and small-game hunting license, which excludes hunting turkey and deer, would increase from $8 to $10.

A fishing and hunting license, which allows hunting of turkey and deer, would increase from $17 to $25.

The cost of a sportsmen’s license, for fishing and for hunting that includes primitive weapons and bow and arrow, would increase from $32 to $45.

Senate Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks Chairman Philip Moran, a Republican from Kiln, says the costs last increased in 1993.
