Mahannah WMA closing for deer and small game hunting due to flooding
JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – Heavy rain throughout Mississippi is causing changes for Mississippi hunters.
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks is closing the Manhannah Wildlife Managment Area (WMA) to the public except for waterfowl hunting.
All deer hunts for the area are cancelled until further notice. This includes re-scheduled deer hunts in January.
Waterfowl hunting is only allowed on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays for pre-drawn and standby hunters only. Hunters may use boats to access designated waterfowl hunting areas, due to the flooding.
The waterfowl draw hunt process will begin at 5 a.m. MDWFP encourages hunters to arrive early to sign in for the draw hunt process.
