Multi-car crash jams up traffic on Highway 82 in Lowndes County

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- The drive home was slow going for a lot of people earlier Thursday evening.

A multi-car accident in the eastbound lane of Highway 82 near the Tenn-Tom Bridge brought the eastbound lanes to a standstill.

Traffic was backed up along the highway and the off-ramp from the Macon Meridian Exit.

Witnesses said there were possibly four cars involved in the crash and ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

The number and extent of injuries is unknown at this time.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
