A North Mississippi town pays thousands to settle federal complaint
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)- The city of Tupelo is paying $34,000 to settle a federal complaint stemming from an arrest in 2016.
In April of 2017, Cameron Robinson filed a complaint stating his constitutional rights were violated, after he was arrested during a traffic stop in December of 2016.
Robinson claims he and his girlfriend were on their way to a doctor’s appointment for their children, when a Tupelo Police officer stopped them.
Robinson’s attorney claims, that during the initial stop, a second officer arrived on scene, and eventually arrested Robinson for disobeying a law enforcement officer.
According to the terms of the settlement, the city admits no wrongdoing and Robinson agrees to drop his claims against the city.
