Senator Jolly Weighs In On State Budget Cuts

BRUCE, Miss. (WCBI) – One area slow to improve is the state’s economy.

It’s been two and a half months since the new fiscal year started, and the budget is already getting cut.

State Senator Russell Jolly says he’s concerned, and will be until revenues start to pick up again.

“It was a $56, $57 million dollar clerical budget at the end of the session that they had to correct, but the last 2 months the budget has, the estimate has been down, and you know it needs a little work,” says Senator Russell Jolly of District 8 (D).

Lawmakers will reconvene in January, and will most likely have to do more work on this year’s budget.
