Suspect sought in Columbus weekend shooting

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Columbus police say they have a suspect in a shooting from over the weekend, however, right now the name isn’t being released.

Police are waiting on the warrant to make an arrest.

The shooting happened Sunday evening near 6th Street and 5th Avenue South.

Police believe the victim and the suspect were in a verbal altercation that escalated to the shooting.

The victim who was airlifted to a hospital has since been released.
