COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Around 15 teachers at Cook Elementary gave their 5th graders a spook by performing a surprise “Thriller” flash mob during lunch time.

The teachers dressed up in Halloween costumes as they performed the dance in front of the kids.

Principal Dr. Tim Wilcox came up with the idea and the dance teacher coordinated the thriller dance.

It was also a learning experience.

The dance teacher says she’s going to use the dance to teach the children about performer audience etiquette and cultural dance from different time periods.

  • This is awesome. I was a teacher for 25 years and things like this are the kind of things great teachers do. They are not just going through the motion to receive the checks. They are motivating students to learn. Can you imagine how you would have felt if your teachers had done something like this.

Such a wonderful and fun idea! Certainly this would be a long-lasting, memorable moment for those kids!

    Wish we had some footage!
