Tupelo man accused of assaulting two corrections officers
LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A man was accused of assaulting two corrections officers at Lee County Jail.
Quartaveous Lyles, 20, has been charged with two counts of simple assault on an officer.
Lyles was accused of attacking a corrections officer and refusing to let the officer close the door to a holding cell while the officer was trying to remove another inmate causing problems.
Other corrections officers came to help during the situation. During the altercation, one officer was hit in the head and another broke his ankle.
Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said charges will be filed and presented to the next Lee County Grand Jury.
