Tuscaloosa Nabs Equipment Thieves

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) – Two men have been accused of stealing more than $280,000 in heavy equipment in four Alabama counties.

The Tuscaloosa News reports (http://bit.ly/28JEkWM) Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office investigators say 38-year-old Matthew Hill of Tuscaloosa County and 37-year-old Jonathan Reid of Jefferson County were each charged with theft and receiving stolen property.

Tuscaloosa County Sheriff Ron Abernathy says the rash of thefts took place in Tuscaloosa, Jefferson, Talladega and Bibb counties between October and May.

Investigators say the stolen items include five Skid Steers, a back hoe, an excavator, an aluminum boat, three ATV’s, a dune buggy and two vehicles.

It is immediately unclear whether Hill and Reid have attorneys.
