Video: Murder Trial Gets Underway in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -The murder trial for Derrick Nelson began Monday.

22 year-old Nelson is charged with the shooting death of 29 year-old Willie Hood in 2013 after they reportedly got into an argument outside a home on Pine Street where both of them lived.

Opening arguments were made today in court by the prosecution and the defense.

Nelson’s sister Kiauna Davis took the stand, along with former Columbus police officer L.C. Cockrell.

Judge Jim Kitchens is presiding over the case.
