LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Stand up and speak out. That was the message for local middle school students in an anti-bullying program.

The Junior Auxiliary of Columbus hosted the program at Columbus and New Hope Middle Schools Friday.

Former Mississippi State quarterback Tyson Lee who now works with the university’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes, was the guest speaker.

He encouraged the students to respond to bullying by speaking out when they see it happening.

Organizers say they hope the students feel empowered to prevent, identify, challenge, and change bullying behaviors.
