LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Some area campers had a few special guests drop in Monday afternoon.
ed off today with a visit from some Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Members of the Football, Volleyball, Track, and Softball teams came out to visit with the kids.

Rising Sun is a Summer camp for children who are battling or have battled cancer.

For some of the athletes it’s a way to bring a little joy and give back to the community. For others it hits a little closer to home.

“Everybody with their eyes on me. If I can just come and do something easy like this and put a smile on theses kids faces. To know exactly everything they’re going through; seeing my mom go through it, and these kids going through it at such a young age, it’s humbling. It’s sad in a way. If I can come out here, and make one day better, or 10 minutes, I will do that.”

“They are excited to see a couple of athletes here to be able to meet them one on one to be able to speak with them, take pictures with them. I think they are really enjoying this time as well.”

Camp Rising Sun runs through this Saturday.
