Alcorn Regional Jail Back To Full State Capacity

CORINTH, MS (WCBI) – While 13 regional jails are losing inmates and dollars, Alcorn County’s regional jail is back at the maximum number of state inmates allowed.
State corrections commissioner Marshall Fisher says the transfer of inmates to Corinth wrapped up today and now 240 prisoners are being housed there.   That’s a reversal of a move last year when every state inmate was taken out of the jail while various corruption cases  involving some county officials and some of the people connected to the jail contract were  being played out.  Fisher says the only reason he agreed to return inmates to the jail is his respect for newly elected Alcorn County Sheriff Ben Caldwell.
