Amory Man Dies in House Fire

AMORY, Miss. (WCBI) – An Amory man was killed in an early Friday morning fire.

Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley says it appears Andrew Lloyd Rye, 24, died from smoke inhalation.

Gurley says Rye was staying at the 712 Martin Luther King Drive house with his girlfriend.

They were doing work on the house, which did not have power.

Gurley says the two were using candles for light and heat.

Rye was found in a back bedroom.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Amory firefighters and the State Fire Marshal’s office.

Rye’s body will be taken to Jackson for an autopsy.
