Video: CPD Still Accepting Reward Donations

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus police continue looking for people will to donate money to help catch a killer.

Freddie Robinson, 25, was shot on January 11th and later died at a Tupelo hospital.

Officers have been asking businesses to donate money to increase the reward for the arrest and conviction of the gunman.

Crime Stoppers is already offering up to one thousand dollars for information.

Investigators say about six masked men went into the 10th Avenue South home, robbing the people inside and shooting Robinson.

In the next few weeks, CPD will begin using electronic billboards in town to ask for information.

Interim Chief Fred Shelton says it will be the first time the billboards have been used and he believes it will be effective.

Lamar Advertising and Busby Companies will display the reward information on a rotation basis for free.

The information billboards are part of an agreement with the city provide the information free of charge.
