CHOCTAW COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Choctaw County family is looking for answers after a relative is arrested and his blood is left at the scene of that arrest.

It was a Wednesday night drive to pick up cigarettes and gas from Sam’s Quick Stop just over the Choctaw County line in Attalla County.

Driver Janalvin Mosley and two men did not immediately stop when a sheriff’s deputy tried to pull them over.

When they  finally pulled over, they were then surrounded by Attalla and Choctaw County deputies.

Choctaw County resident Craig Mitchell was in that vehicle.

“Slammed him on the back of the trunk you know. Pushed him down like that and then they had drawn their guns on us, you know. I mean ain’t like we just robbed a bank or we just murdered somebody,” said Mitchell.

But from what we understand, they had already been flagged down by law enforcement personnel.

“And he was handcuffed and then, and then you know he had his hand on his back. And he pushed him down,” added Mitchell.

After being taken into custody, Mosley was taken to an area hospital and treated for a head injury.

The other two men were released.

“We had did everything that we were suppose to do as far as driving. We wasn’t wabbling and we wasn’t speeding or none of that you know. We just was doing like how you are suppose to drive you know,” said Mitchell.

Be that as it may, Mosley is being charged with driving with a suspended license, failure to comply, resisting and failure to yield to a blue light.

But his family still wants to know if their relative was injured while handcuffed and why.

I’m sure all you white people did wrong way before any of this. Now you can’t be two sided Obama watching you!!! So you all wait its about to be the same law for everybody not just whites lets see how you handle jail time when black people take over Choctaw county. It’s been injustice toward us in Ackerman. But we gone stand together God bless America

My family and I have been an avid watcher of WCBI news for years but after allowing this type of coverage by a reporter that doesn’t take a genius to see he only jumps on stories that try to make white law enforcement look bad, we will no longer be watching any coverage by WCBI. My husband knows Janalvin Mosley lets just say on a “personal” level and he IS a convicted child molester of a mentally challenged young girl, habitual criminal and tried to molest another young girl but the mother caught him. RH Brown makes himself appear to have the same character as these thugs. Our law enforcement officers in Choctaw county AND Attala Couty do their job and if force is used then trust me it was needed. When dealing with Janalvin Mosley it IS needed! And racist? Ask Mr. Mosley about being a member of a racist all black prison gang….cover that story Mr. Brown and leave law enforcement officers trying to do their job of keeping ALL of the GOOD citizens safe from thugs like Janalvin Mosley!

Interested tid bit to add to this the youg man interviewed saying all these things how day wuz doin nutting wrong…. was arrested yesterday morning in ackerman for outstanding warrants out of Winston county say bravo genius u have warrants and u get on TV bad mouthing police you get the HERES YOUR SIGN reard for the month maybe even the year the jury still out on RH

  • Elizabeth

Thank you for pointing that out, Carla.

Ignorance is exactly why more often than not, incidents occurring in Choctaw, as well as Attala County are racially charged. WCBI should investigate that. But it would be no surprise as to what would be revealed.

I’m sure the reference to an African American as a “monkey” isn’t racially motivated…?

My question is for wcbi & rh brown. Why not say in the news report Choctaw count arrested a convicted felon and child molelester for failure to stop and resisting arrest and was injured in the process. The info can be found on the link above . I love how they show his picture in a suit and tie why not show his mug shot. Or his recent picture on the sex offender website. That’s the truth and what should be told. Wcbi should get rid of rh brown sounds like he is a huge liability for them.

    • Elizabeth

I’m sure that there are plenty of holes in this news cast, but any of you that actually knows anything about Choctaw and Attala County, knows that more often than not, the incidents that occur are racially charged. RH Brown should investigate that. WCBI would find that a large percentage of stops, arrests, and sadly in some cases, charges in Choctaw County involving African American males are without merit. But of course, those African Americans are always the trouble right?

Mr. Brown, excellent job of stirring up racial tension!!! I am sure this had absolutely nothing to do with the driver disobeying the officer and the law, sure he had no legal license to drive, sure he refused to pull over for them, sure he has a criminal record… But I am sure this fine upstanding citizen who clearly gives so much toward the community was attracted by the officers for his race thanks to the recent election! Are You truly that ignorant or just enjoy creating racial tension?

  • mike

Also this guy was driving with a suspended licence, that in it self is breaking the law, then does not stop. What relavance does that have to do with the election? Come on RH. Brown why even repeat something that sounds so ignorant. That in it self makes you look like a fool.

  • Tim

RH Brown needs to tell the full story before he starts making it a racial thing. If you’re not going to give the full story then you don’t need to air it, but that’s how tv, radio and news papers are or work. WCBI is only giving one side of the story. I guarentee that in the end we all will see and here the truth. Also, this is not the first time this one particular person has had a run-in with law enforcement. Almost everytime he has been envolved with the law he has ran from the law instead of trying to abide with the law. Check your local jail docket which is public records. Again, in the end WE all will know the truth. P.S. Mr. RH Brown this was not caused or spurred on from the recent election from which you stated on the news cast!
    God Bless To All!!!

  • Ben

It blows my mind that Mr. RH Brown at WCBI reports nothing but racial oriented news. The news reports have so many loop holes in them that it’s not even funny. Bravo to Mr. RH Brown for provoking racial tensions. I consider myself pretty intelligent and can plainly see that this report was nothing more than a slap in WCBI’s face and a reflection of what you stand for. I think you have a winner there with Mr. RH Brown. This is absolutely absurd! The news shows that Mr. Mosley failed to yield to blue lights so I would guess that he was in violation of something but the news reflects AGAIN that law enforcement is the “bad guy”. The report stated something in the fact of this young man being an outstanding citizen. Well if he is that then I’m a menace to society. Take a look at this website if you haven’t. Mr. Mosley is a convicted sex offender for rape of a female under the age of 14!! http://state.sor.dps.ms.gov/OffenderDetails.aspx?Display=Main&Id=378385 Better yet you guys sent the one person you knew of that would do nothing more than damage a community. I will never again turn on your news due to the quality of news that you broadcast. Oh and contact Mr. RH Brown when someone is breaking into your house in the middle of the night and leave the law enforcement alone where they can harass people of society. Unbelievable!

at the time of mosley’s conviction he was about 2yrs older than the “victim”. It was all consentual until mom and dad found out.

      • Jason

NO he wasnt and it was not just him there was 4 other boys and it was not just a 13 yof it was a vulnerable child in case u dont know what i mean by that mental retardation Mosley has been in trouble time and time again should not be on the streets in a community where i raise my children much less driving on suspended license after recent conviction of not 1 but 2 DUIs RH brown failed to mention all of that though didnt he

  • mike

Why a suspended drivers licence? When he got in the car he was breaking the law. And what did this guy do to loose his licences . Why did wise RH brown not ask why he has no licences ? Sounds to me like someone is trying to stir the pot and make things more than they are.

    • Tim

      Mike I agree 100%!!!

  • Jason

RH Brown needs to learn how to actually report what happened and stop trying to turn everything into race i honestly believe he is the most racist reporter i have ever seen in my life no mention of this mans past offenses or any side of the police officers involved you know those guys that protect and serve yea those but know a black kid tries to fight the police and gets a little scratch on his head you can bet RH Brown is all over it in a heart beat and to have the nerve to bring national politics into a felony stop resulting in a fight is beyond ignorant WCBI needs to find someone else that will actually report the news
