Video: Son Pleads Guilty To Killing Mother

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) – A man who pleaded guilty to killing his mother and 12-year-old half-brother has been sentenced to 48 years in prison.

The Oxford Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/1RmkVGd ) former Yalobusha County Sheriff’s deputy, 27-year-old Regis Mister, was indicted in March 2014 in the deaths of 43-year-old Carol Lavett Gary and her son, Patrick Earl “PJ” Gary Jr. at their home Nov. 8, 2013. Mister, who was a school resource officer for the Water Valley School District, lived with Gary at the time of the shooting.

Mister pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of second-degree murder and was sentenced to 40 years in prison with 16 years suspended on both charges, leaving 24 years to serve. Both sentences were ordered to run consecutively, meaning he must finish one before he begins serving the other.
