LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A New Hope High School Spanish teacher quits after being caught with alcohol in her classroom.

Michelle Cox resigned Thursday night after a meeting with Lowndes County school officials.

Cox, who has been at the school for about six years, was caught Wednesday morning after students thought she was acting strangely. A school resource officer discovered Cox had vodka in a Mountain Dew bottle. Other bottles were also found and a breathalizer test found alcohol in her system.

She was suspended and then quit Thursday night.
