ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) — Aberdeen is considering some strict guidelines for naming streets or bridges in honor of individuals.

Aldermen are studying a proposal that would require a $250 fee, the support of residents or property owners on a street or near a bridge and other standards before the city will post signs designating a bridge or section of road in someone’s memory.

In recent weeks, the city has had several requests to post such signs in memory of long-time residents of some neighborhoods.
