Video: New Biography of Senator John C. Stennis Unveiled at Stennis’ Alma Mater

MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY, Miss. (WCBI) – When he retired in 1989 he was the longest-serving member of the Senate, and its President Pro-Tem.

Wednesday night, a new biography of late U.S. Senator John C. Stennis was unveiled at the Institute of Government that bears his name at Mississippi State.

“Plowing a Straight Furrow” chronicles Stennis’ life from Kemper County through a sixty year political career that carried him to Washington D.C. and the highest post in the Senate Chamber.

The book’s author, Don Thompson, and Stennis’ daughter Margaret Womble were on hand to sign copies of the book.
