WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – State politicians are keeping a close eye on the state flag debate happening at Ole Miss, and the hot topic continued Thursday.

WCBI caught up with Attorney General Jim Hood Thursday afternoon in West Point. Hood says times are much different than when he grew up and that the flag debate should remain a state issue.

“We’d go back when the Grove was, cars could drive in and we’d have a picnic, there were rebel flags everywhere. They were, that was the early ’70s, we’d see Archie Manning play, you know, but now, Ole Miss is taking that step and its something our legislature needs to address itself on a statewide basis.”

The AP is reporting that three initiatives to keep the flag are frustrated with Hood’s office, saying they aren’t happy with how his office is presenting the ballot title.
