Woman’s Body Found Along the Pearl River

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Jackson and Flowood police say a body found along the Pearl River is that of a woman reported missing Monday.

Multiple news outlets report the body of 29-year-old Jessica Hewitt was found Wednesday afternoon.  Jackson Police Chief Lee Vance says they are awaiting the results of an autopsy. A purse and personal items were found with the body.

A missing person’s report was filed with JPD on Monday night after Hewitt failed to pick up her child from day care. Her vehicle was found Tuesday afternoon near Old River Place in Flowood. Teams of searchers combed the area around where Hewitt’s vehicle was located.

Jessica Hewitt’s husband, Hobbie Hewitt, has been questioned and released.

Hewitt’s car was towed on Tuesday to be processed for evidence.
