Yalobusha County Manhunt Ends In Arrest

YALOBUSHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Calhoun County man leads law enforcement on a three hour man hunt, after allegedly stealing a shotgun and four-wheeler in Yalobusha County.

Michael Norwood is charged with burglary, grand larceny, petty larceny and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Yalobusha County Sheriff Lance Humphreys believes Norwood was using drugs when he broke into a County Road 186 home on Thursday morning.

Investigators say Norwood told the homeowner not go inside because the Mexican cartel was in there and would kill her.

The 27 year-old was eventually caught when a Grenada County deputy and Coffeeville Police Chief Mark Martin heard Norwood talking to himself near a remote cabin.

The stolen gun, four-wheeler and a box of ammo were recovered.

Yalobusha, Calhoun, and Grenada County deputies were involved in the search, along with Coffeeville police and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks.
