STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI Sports) – Mississippi State’s defense clamped down Saturday as the Bulldogs beat Troy 45-17.

MSU (4-2, 1-2 SEC) led 38-0 at halftime as senior quarterback Dak Prescott battled a stomach virus to make the start. Redshirt freshman backup Nick Fitzgerald came in in the first half and threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

Mississippi State’s defense held Troy to 31 total yards in the first half.

The Bulldogs will host Louisiana Tech next Saturday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m. It’ll be televised on the SEC Network.
