COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Things are almost back to normal at the Columbus Lock and Dam after rising waters from last week’s rain caused 2 barges to break loose and run into the dam.

U -S Army Corps of Engineer Project Manager,  Rick Saucer told WCBI that the barges will be moved soon.

A boat is on it’s way to capture them and was in Coffeeville,  Alabama Thursday.

They were hoping to have them moved by tomorrow but the boat is running into strong currents and taking longer to get here.

Once it arrives, they will still have to examine a number of factors to make sure they pick the right time to rescue the barges.
