COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Northeast Mississippi Republican Women got an update on the state of Mississippi’s Agriculture Tuesday afternoon. Commissioner Cindy Hyde-Smith spoke to the Lowndes County Republican Women Tuesday afternoon at the Lion Hills Center. Hyde-Smith gave an update on the responsibilities of her agency and her role in the department. She also informed members about catfish farming, and how prices are doing across the state.

” When you go to a restaurant now they have to post a sign that if they serve domestic catfish that we proudly serve U.S. Farm raised catfish and that’s a bill we worked very hard on and it’s kind of stabilize the catfish prices right now.”

The commissioner also fielded questions about the state of agriculture in Mississippi.
