COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – After multiple tours of duty overseas, one dedicated airman is back home with his family in Columbus. Doug Beddies returned to Columbus from a 6-month deployment in Afghanistan. He’s served his country for nearly two decades years.

“This is my 2nd 6-month tour but I have gone out on 4 months and 3 months. I think when I added it up, this is like the 14th deployment I’ve been on,” says Beddies.

“I’ve been absolutely ecstatic since he’s been back and just anticipating his return,” says Christina Beddies.

Beddies’ wife Christina says she misses her husband when he’s deployed but it also draws them closer as a unit.

“It makes you look a lot at what you’re capable of as a family. You know how strong your relationship can be, should be and needs to be,” says Christina Beddies.

Over the course of his 17-year military career, Beddies has been deployed to Southwest Asia, Norway, Morocco and Africa. The Beddies are also expecting another addition to the family in March. Beddies says he hopes to work for Homeland Security when he retires from the military.
