COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — A Pickens County, Alabama woman gets a wild ride but escapes serious injury at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

Witnesses say 22-year-old Rebecca Chitwood of Ethelsville was eastbound on Highway 82 just east of the Highway 50 exit in Columbus when she lost control of her Toyota Camry and left the road.

The car traveled about 150 yards down a steep embankment, plowed through a swampy area and into a grove of trees before stopping against a fence.

She was treated at Baptist Golden Triangle Hospital in Columbus.
