COLUMBUS, Miss. – (WCBI) A Democratic hopeful looking to unseat Governor Phil Bryant takes her campaign on the road.

Vicki Slater was in Columbus Friday afternoon.  The 58-year old says current leadership has hurt Mississippians through inadequate healthcare and a poor job climate.

Slater is also pushing for the full funding of the Mississippi Adequate Education Program. Even though she is running in the blue, in a traditionally red state, Slater expects a competitive race.

“Mississippians are willing to elect people that will get the job done, that have the same values that they do, and can relate to lives that they live everyday,” says  Slater.

Slater is a longtime attorney from Madison.
