Winston County, Miss. (WCBI) – In Winston County they are cleaning up today after three waves of severe storms hit the area overnight Thursday. At least 2 homes and one business were damaged, and around two thousand customers lost power as straight line winds brought down trees and power lines.

Residents and County work crews are hard at work cleaning up the damage, and a Mississippi Emergency Management team is doing a site survey to determine how much damage was done. A funnel cloud was reported in the area, but it did not touch down. Most of the damage was caused by straight line winds.

Area officials are working fast to clear damage, and they are stressing preparedness as a second round of potentially severe storms could be rolling in early next week.

“We are looking at this as kind of a warm-up. This is to get people’s attention; let them know we have got some significant weather coming, starting Sunday night. Pay attention . If you don’t have a Weather Alert Radio go out and get you a Weather Alert Radio”

There have been no reports of injuries from the storm or the clean-up efforts
